Yankees avoid elimination with the Guardians and take Game 4 behind Gerrit Cole’s solid start.

The New York Yankees, leaning their backs against the wall, defeated the Cleveland Guardians 4-2 in Game 4, leading Game 5 to a decisive victory in the ALDS. The series returns to the Bronx on Monday night. Both teams will get their hands on the decks as Aaron Seabale and Jameson Taylor are expected to throw a “bullpen game”. The Yankees started scoring early in the game as Anthony Rizzo hit home Gleyber Torres, and he also scored as the first batter of the game. He stole a second base when he struck out to put Judge Aaron in a scoring position. Click here for more sports coverage on FOXNEWS.COM. Another ball hit the scoreboard by Jose Ramirez’s bat. Steven Kwan returned home after falling into Noman’s Land, but Ramirez was sent off early on for dropping the bag too much to finish the inning. The next goal came when Josh Naylor hit a solo home run from right center field. As he ran around the base, Naylor celebrated “Baby Shake” as he stared into the dugout on his way to home plate. This, along with momentum in favor of the Guardians, made the game 3-2. Cole threw 110 pitches and 7 innings. After conceding two earned runs, striking out eight guardians, and conceding only one walk, he left the game. Clay Holmes caught the bottom of the eighth and walked Kwan, but he managed to strike out Amed Rosario. Jose Trevino’s good frame, despite the low pitch, was when Will Little called him home and Ramirez finished the frame. The Guardians conceded three runs in nine minutes, putting YANKEES on the brink of elimination. After throwing 42 pitches between matches on Friday and Saturday, Wandy Peralta threw only 7 to pass Naylor, Oscar Gonzalez and Andres Gimenez. On the Guardians side of the mound, Cal Quantrill gave up three runs on four hits, three strikeouts and one walk before starting and surviving just five innings. Cody Morris also allowed three strikeouts without allowing hits in 7 and 8 innings, giving the Guardians a solid hit in 2 innings. The Guardians also kept the game up with excellent defensive play from the infield, including Ramirez’s dive play with runners-up. The result was a double play that ended the inning in the beginning of the 5th to avoid more runs.
