Electric Porsche Macan: new images and first official figures

Although it won’t go on sale before December 2023, Porsche is already providing some interesting details about the Macan EV, which should be announced in front of the Taycan as the brand’s best electric car. And since we’re talking sedans, we know that the Taycan and Macan EV don’t share much. The first was built on the J1 platform (common with the Audi e-tron GT) when the Macan EV was conceived on a PPE platform. . The Macan EV is sold in two transmission versions: rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Porsche has chosen a permanent magnet synchronous motor that can develop up to 450 kW. This is almost 615 hp and above all 1000 Nm. Nevertheless, the Taycan retains the peculiarity of its double reduction ratio, which improves performance when starting upright while maximizing maximum speed. The Macan EV will be happy with its fixed ratio (9:1 to be exact). In the four-wheel drive version (and dual motors), the Macan EV has special management for two electric motors that can facilitate certain movements. In addition, the rear engine is qualified for a specific control differential. All of this is placed on rims up to 22 inches, meaning the wheels have significant spring-free mass. The current model remains a Porsche bestseller worldwide. Last year, Porsche sold nearly 90,000 Macans worldwide. Doing without a goose now would be almost suicidal for a Porsche trying to sell this electric version along with the existing range. How long? It’s hard to say, but Porsche will quickly find out if the source is needed for the Macan EV. In any case, Taycan’s good sales should already reassure the German manufacturer.
