New Mercedes GLC test: our opinion on the wheels of the 400th petrol hybrid

But on more sustained driving, it doesn’t offer the same dynamics as BMW’s rival X3, with a rather pronounced but reassuring tendency to understeer. A smooth limousine… Another satisfaction, comfort, optimized for the hybrid version, which can be charged by the Airmatic suspension, a famous controlled pneumatic damping that Mercedes cherishes. Comfort mode gives the GLC the smoothness of a limousine, great flexibility and significant amplitude damping. It’s barely disturbed by the slight air noise from the mirrors on the highway, not to mention the quiet operation that the 0.29 flattering CX prefers. But when the battery is full, the unsolicited engine can evolve up to 140 km/h (147 km/h counter, very precisely) in full electric mode. The GLC then runs as smooth and quiet as the electric model. In this mode, the autonomy has more than doubled compared to the previous work, exceeding 100km in actual use. The battery can be recharged within 30 feet using the optional 60kW DC charger. However, when the battery is partially or fully discharged on the road, the average fuel consumption is about 9 liters per 100 km.
